Hebrews 5:11 to 6:12.
It is clear from the second half of chapter 5 and into chapter 6 that the writer of the letter to the Hebrews would have expected them to have got further than they have in their understanding of who Jesus is. They are still reliant on others to teach them the “elementary truths of God’s word all over again” (5:12). They still need to grasp the full “goodness of the word of God” (6:5). How frustrating it must be for the teacher who is passionate about enriching the lives of their students, when they need to be repeatedly keep going over the basics!
