The world is broken (v20) and will seek to distract and divert with untruth if care is not shown. So we need to look up to God to receive his Spirit, look back into Scripture to know his truth and then trust that “the Lord knows how to rescue” (v9). He rescued Noah and Lot and Balaam. In Balaam’s case in quite an extraordinary way [the telling of which perhaps lightens the theme?]!

So keep knowing our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (v20) and celebrate it in communion.
