N.T. Wright asks: “Why does Jesus’ resurrection matter?”. One review of a film about the resurrection said this: “the resurrection is the final event of a compelling life, a stormy trial and a vicious death. Paul said he proclaimed Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Here the resurrection stands more or less on its own, as an unexplained event”. Others will declare that the resurrection of Jesus is “impossible and unproven”.
In the midst of divergent views and opinions, one thing is certain: the resurrection of Jesus is a topic that will get people talking, and it will bring out a wide range of comments. So where do we stand? What is the reason we have for believing in the resurrection of Jesus and describing Him as our “risen Lord and Saviour”?
