Open to God in 2016

Open to God is the overarching theme for 2016, which we’re hoping to explore with an eye on our verse for the year: “My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will understand the hope that was given to you when God chose you.” (Ephesians 1:18a, CEV.)

During this first 3-4 months we’ll be digging deep into Colossians.

Luke 2:21-40. At the start of 2016 we reflect together as a church family on the ‘The Big Picture’ – whether among the usual New Year’s Resolutions we are giving our lives to Jesus and intending to live this year for Him. When we think of the Nativity we realise what life-changing decisions Mary & Joseph, the shepherds and magi made. Simeon and Anna, too, provide wonderful examples of faithful people who waited patiently for God, dedicating their long lives to His service in the hope of Messiah’s coming. Are we ready to give ourselves in a similar way?
